Also spelled Annan, is said to be the name of the founder of this Kata. This is the most advanced of the Ryuei-Ryu style's Kata and is also found in the Shito-Ryu style. Offensive and defensive moves are integrated into one. The techniques change without a break. Characteristics include offensive using Teisho (palm heel), and it's respiration methods. This Kata was made famous when performed by an unknown school teacher from Okinawa called Tsguo Sakumoto who entered and won the World Championships three times in a row!
Ryuei-Ryu is an Okinawan style of Karate . It was origionally a closely-guarded family style of the Makaima family of Naha but is now one of the internationally recognised Okinawan styles. It is mainly practiced in the USA, Argentina, Venezuela and Okinawa. Ryuei-Ryu is based on the Chinese style of Kenpo and the animal style is mainly Tiger or Dragon.
