Seienchin Kata
Literally means the calm within a storm. Seienchin is a beautifull form utilising very low Shiko Dachi stances and dynamic breathing with block/strike techniques. Tender slow movements with deep breathing along with quick and strong movements are the specification of this Kata. The time required is about one minute fifty seconds, the time for performing the first three parts of this Kata should be fourty-five seconds. There is probably no other Kata that better demonstrates traditional Karate than Seienchin. This Kata found it's roots in the Okinawan city of Naha. This compulsory Kata is from the Shito-Ryu style.
