Imps Club
The Little Imps™ program is a personal development system which has been designed for children aged 4, 5 & 6 to help build confidence in a fun and safe environment.

The program is based upon the principles of Karate training and has been designed by Simon O’Brien 5th Dan who has been training and teaching Karate for over 30 years. The program concentrates on the teaching of 10 core principles taught in 10 separate “Steps”. Our motto is “One step at a time” and this reflects our step by step approach to learning. The 12 week rolling program is further broken down into Stage 1 and Stage 2 with each stage consisting of 5 of the Steps plus a stage revision session. Stage 1 focuses mainly on upper body movement and co-ordination e.g. Punches and Blocks. Stage 2 is aimed mainly at lower body movement and co-ordination e.g. Kicks and Stances. Each Step starts where the previous one left off and there are take home sheets to work through with parents.
The first objective of the Little Imps™ program is to help children learn left and right. They then move on to body co-ordination and awareness of upper, middle and lower body levels thus covering all attack and defense areas. This then sets up the rest of the program. The Little Imps™ program has a progressive defined syllabus of 2 kicks, 2 stances, 2 blocks and 2 punches upon which the fundamentals of Traditional Karate are based. Your child will learn the key concepts of Karate based training disguised in fun games and role play in a safe environment with no physical combat being taught. Your child will be given a Little Imps™ training logbook in which to put coloured “Step” stickers and revision stars in the allocated spaces next to the lesson after the class is over. Once your child has collected all 10 Little Imps™ Step stickers and 2 revision stars they graduate and are recognized with a belt tag to sew on. The program is then repeated and your child will gain a deeper understanding of what is being taught each time they run through it. Once your child has 2 belt tags they will be awarded their next belt on completion of the next program. The program then starts again at Step 1 but at a higher intensity.
