Elite Kata Squad

This page is dedicated to the Imperial Karate Club Elite Kata Squad. The Elite Squad was set up in 2007 to focus on the development of a small number of our top level club Kata athletes. Our aim is:-

1. To build experience and ability by providing additional high intensity dedicated training sessions.
2. To Provide a progression through the open competitions on to the National circuit.
3. To enter high level National and International tournaments to gain valuable experience.
4. To study nominated "Performance Kata" outside of the Wado Ryu style.
5. To form into Kata teams and enter team Kata events aiming to add the full Bunkai to routines.

The Imperial Elite Squad entry is by invitation only after proving yourself worthy in competition. You must be Brown or Black Belt or have an excellent track record in competition Kata. Members must also make themselves available to train the extra sessions on weekends as well as your two basic sessions in the week.

ShiteiGata (compulsory)

Tokui Kata (free choice)
Both free choice Kata are from the Okinawan style of Ryuei-Ryu and also found in Shito-Ryu. Ryuei-Ryu is based on the Chinese style of Kenpo. The animal style is mainly Tiger or Dragon.
